Carnegie Hall’s PlayUSA Program Helps OPUS Expand to Chapman School
A $20,000 grant from Carnegie Hall’s PlayUSA program has made possible the Eagle Ensemble, OPUS’s newest violins-in-the-schools program at Anchor Point’s Chapman School. Beloved local violin teacher and fiddler extraordinaire Katie Klann and veteran music educator Sue Biggs have been getting this program off to a ringing start in Chapman’s kindergarten and first grade classrooms. A grant of $5,000 from the Alaska State Council on the Arts is also supporting this program expansion. This brings the total students in OPUS programs to about 240!
