Eagle Ensemble

In the fall of 2022, Homer OPUS expanded to Anchor Point and Chapman School with the creation of the Chapman Eagle Ensemble. The expansion, at no cost to the school or students, augments Chapman School’s music instruction and was made possible in part with funding from Carnegie Hall’s PlayUSA program, the Rasmuson Foundation, and the Alaska State Council on the Arts. In the inaugural year, the program provided violin instruction to kindergarten and first graders. Year two saw the expansion to include second grade. Not only does the Eagle Ensemble bring the Anchor Point community together through the creation of music but also brings the Homer and Anchor Point communities together as made evident during the Sea of Strings performance, April 2023. The Chapman Eagle Ensemble Steering Committee, consisting of parents, teachers and community members strives to foster learning and creativity in the students and is excited to explore the unique opportunities the program brings to a K-8 School.
